Combines N7shoe

i replaced the shoe on our N7 2 years ago it had broken into many pieces grain pan separated from the side plates etc if i remember right you can use a shoe from any N or R series combine i looked up all the part numbers once uppon a time and i think every rotary has the same side plates on the shoe, from the N5 to the R72 maybe one of the others here can enlighten us

Here are a few precautions I follow when installing rubber bushings: 1) Do not use lubricant when installing rubber bushings. 2) Tighten bushing caps when shoe is in the center of its travel. 3) Use torque wrench when tightening bushing caps. 4) Replace Whiz nuts if you loosen nuts instead of bolts, or 5) Use a light strength thread locker like loctite 290 or 242. 6) Replace rubber bushings in pairs or replace all of them. I had trouble with a well-used l2 like you are having and I solved it by spending a few bucks on a shop manual and following it. But then I am a tad fussier than most guys. All I know about interchangeability of shoe assys is the R series got a new shoe somewhere around 1996. Tom in MN

yme, A couple of things to check.When the machine is running at an idle,does the shoe seem like it wants to dance a jigIJIf so,you need to check both eccentric drives.I have seen where the eccentric keyway will start eating a groove internally and this gets one side out of time with the other.The shoe will literally shake itself apart.Premature bushing failure,front shoe drive hanger cracking,and rod that runs through drive shaft at front breaking are common signs this is the culprut.You will have to remove both eccentrics and check for keyway wear.
