Natural Flea and Tick Prevention?

I found the first tick of the season on our dog earlier this week. We usually use Frontline flea and tick prevention in the Spring and Summer months. However, I'd really rather use something natural. Have you all actually had any luck with natural flea and tick prevention methods? If so, which ones have been successful for you?

We have 2 kittens way to young to be alone outside Mrs. said.
When outside in the woods tall grass hay I spray with DEET which works so far also double check myself..

There are natural repellents and some work better than other, but to reduce the amount of ticks on your property, keep a flock of guinea fowl. Ticks are their favorite snack. They really noticeably reduce the amount of ticks you'll find on yourselves and your animals.
