Our neighborhood had a small outdoor block party and one of the guys was serving up grilled watermelon and avocado. Have you ever heard of that? It was surprisingly tasty. I'm going to get the recipe from him when I can. What's the craziest thing you've ever had off the grill?
Grilled bananas. They weren't pretty, but it was a good dessert. Much better than I expected. I believe they used lemon juice, honey, and brown sugar to make the dessert.
These weren't all in the same dish, but I've had candied lemons, asparagus spears, and breaded lettuce cooked on a grill. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer simple dishes when I'm grilling out. Just give me a steak, hamburger, or hot dog please.
That actually sounds pretty interesting. Please share the recipe when you get it. Grilled bananas sound interesting too. We have grilled bananas with chocolate chips wrapped in foil.
We have tried all kinds of different things on the grill. I would say the strangest was coconut. It was not very good. We also do "banana boats, we add miniature marshmallows".
