What is a JD 9700IJ I know of the 9600 which we own but i dont believe a 9700 was ever made!! Sry man. BG

I'd break it down a little more: I'm starting around 1978-79 Gleaner F2_F3 = JD 4420_4435 IH 1420_1620 Gleaner M2_M3 = JD 6620 = IH 1440_1640 Gleaner N5_R5 and l2_l3 = JD7720 = IH 1460_1660 Gleaner N6_R6 = JD8820 = IH 1480 Gleaner N7_R7 = IJIJ ....Starting about 1990 Gleaner R40_42 = JD 9400_9410_9450 = IH 1640_1644_2144_2344 Gleaner R50_52 = JD 9500_9510_9550_9560 = IH 1660_1666_2166_2366 Gleaner R60_62_65 = JD 9600_9610_9650_9660 = IH 1680_1688_2188_2388 Gleaner R70_72_75 = JD 9750_9760 = IH 2388-12 row ready JD 9860 = IH 8010 Of course we could debate these all day. But, I think this a pretty fair comparison of machine size.

Along with the JD9860 and the IH8010 you need to include a CR970 which would eat the Johnie for breakfast and the new Case looks to have the same rotor as a 2388 although the rest of the machine looks pretty impressive capacity wise .Just my two bobs worth.
