Combines Rear Axles Breaking

I didn't break the axle beam itself on my 1480, that silly thin tube snapped off. luckily the combine had stabilizer bars and the axle twisted forward and bound up so the combine didn't fall. I heard the pipe snap off in the cab when it happened. I got a piece of tubing from the machine shop with a 1" thick wall and welded it into the axle. Don't think I'll have a problem with that again!

is this a problem on 60 sized machinesIJ so far everyone has only mentioned 80s

I believe you need to talk to this guy.. he fixed his rear axle to a never break again status, and it is awesome. here is a link to a forum where he has pictures and more.. newagtalk that is
