    Starting a home greenhouse

A greenhouse is a usual guarantee to year-round growth and crop production for the family. Any first-time greenhouse owner needs to do a lot of research and ascertain the climate, budget and intended usage, among many other factors.

    Tractors Driver-less Tractors

When I read the initial post, I also had the same thoughts. I don't see how a tractor can be fully autonomous; at some point, human input will be a requirement.

    Tractors Driver-less Tractors

As farmers, it is understandable when we become pessimistic or cautious about new technology. The discussion about autonomous and semi-autonomous machines has been around, but I think such tech target higher-value crops like vineyards, fresh produce and tree nuts.

    Implements General maintenance tips

Machinery is often prone to breakdown, owing to the nature of work on the farm. Not only can it be costly to purchase this equipment, but a farmer can also incur huge costs through repairs. How often do you perform cleaning and lubrication? By doing this frequently, you can prevent the equipment...

    Is organic farming beneficial?

I agree with you because one method of organic pest management is through the use of species that are pest and disease-resistant. I think that for organic farming to succeed, better and more effective methods of pest control are necessary, and that probably means that it becomes more costly in...

    One Way To Maximize Profits

Ooh yes, it makes a difference at the end of the day. If every farmer kept this in mind when filing returns, it would be a whole different ball-game out here. Do you pay someone to do your taxes or you file them on your own?

    Is organic farming beneficial?

Have you noticed that organic foods are appealing to more consumers now than ever before? If every farmer converted to organic production, we could get rid of persistent and harmful pesticides from entering the environment annually.

Which animals are best suited for a small farm?

I was going to talk about goats, but you beat me to it @Petal to the Metal :). I would add pekin ducks, pigs and cows (though they require a large amount of space) to the list.

Combines What can i make to sell farmers

There's no fixed answer to this, but I would presume that choosing between a farm implement and farm machinery is a good starting point. How about visiting some farmers around where you live and finding out this information? They could even give suggestions on what could be modified to work for...

    Growing marijuana for medicinal purposes

I agree because there is minimal mention of how lucrative the crop is, and more how beneficial it is medicinally. Either way, is this something that anyone can achieve in the short-term?

    Thoughts On Monsanto

Everyone seems to have something to say about Monsanto, especially about the safety of the Roundup herbicide. Things are made worse with claims of the company's attempts to manipulate journalists and academics. Its reputation is (and has been at stake) for a while!

    Growing marijuana for medicinal purposes

I came across an article that made a strong case about allowing home cultivation of marijuana because it is ultimately a plant that absorbs nutrients, drinks water, absorbs sunlight and grows sticky flowers. In some places, it is legal for medical marijuana patients to grow cannabis (which is...

    Flowers instead of crops?

I am not there yet, even though for a long time, I have contemplated growing flowers for profit. They mature quickly and are easy to grow. I believe it is prudent to go for the flowers in high demand. Would you go for roses, peonies, larkspur or snapdragons?

    Tractors Best farm tractors

What would your definition of the best brand be? I would say that it is the one best suited to the job in horsepower and size. John Deere and Case-IH stand out because of the availability of local dealers and access to a reliable supply of parts. Ford equally fits the bill.

What attracted you to this lifestyle?

Farming can be a family tradition, but not everyone chooses this path. I grew up on a farm, but I developed a keen interest (after my teenage years) to learn as much as I could and change the food system (certain aspects of the foreign and agriculture policies).

Auction Auctions Need To Make A Comeback

I would go as well. I remember going to live auctions as a kid. The place always had many people and a lot of items up for sale. It would be nice to be in a live auction, then bid. I can imagine the fun and anxiety at wanting to be the highest bidder!

    Goat yoga

When a friend mentioned 'goat yoga' I initially treated it as a joke. Upon further research, I realized that it is a practice that is catching up fast. Goats are adorable animals and watching one such session on YouTube was thrilling.
