Combines 1688 rotor belt slipping

Check your PTO drive pressure. You didnt say if the rest of the machine slows down but your rotor will plug real quick if the pressure is low.I have seen a 1680 and a 2188 do this. The 2188 did break belts also. Good luck.

Check vanes in cone, they may be bent or have bolts missing.I had bolts missing from factory ,same thing happened.

Has some one taken the seperator jack shaft stand offIJ (That is the shaft where the shieves opposite the rotor gear box shieves run on.) If that is not lined up perfectly when installed you will have problems like you are describing. I've been told that when they mount that stand at the factor they ues a dial indicater to get it true.

Check your jackshaft alignment to your torque sensing pulley i know

I don't think that it is the rotor belt causing the problem. The fact that the temperatures run the same with the machine that does run fine indicates this to me. What about the banded belt that drives the jackshaftIJ The spring loaded idler does not have a way to lubricate the pivot and will sometimes cause the pulley not to respond and allow the belt to loosen. Second thing to check is if the tensioning rod has big notches worn in it preventing the pulley from maintaining tension. Third if this belt has been slipping then the sheaves are probably worn and either allowiing the belt to bottom out or allowing the sheave to contact the band in the belt. Either way you quit pulling on the sides of the belt. Also agree with one of the other posts that PTO clutch drive pressure could be at fault. One other question. Does the rest of the machine slow down or just the rotorIJ While writing I thought of this and should have asked it first. My .02.

The rest of the machine doesn't slow down just the rotor

The rest of the machine doesn't slow down at all. Just the rotor slows down.
