Combines 320 header feeding problems

Has header opening been properly narrowed for R52. Tall flighting on auger should be extended to bring straw into area just ahead of feed chain. Stripper behind auger gets extended to edge of feeder opening. Be sure there are no sharp corners or edges protruding where flighting or stripper is extended. Header opening should be as wide as feeder unless you are in straw that likes to wrap up on driveshafts and then you would narrow header opening. There should be about four of the far right fingers removed from header auger. Area under fingers should be smooth and not all rusted up. Filler between header and feeder should be slid back to prevent the hole inbetween header auger and feeder. Knock the filler down if needed to get a smooth floor inbetween header and feeder. Do you have feeder shocks installed and front drum in grain front positionIJ

Doug, One other thing to check, make sure that conveyor finger retraction is set properly.Fingers should disappear into guide at about the 4-5 o'clock position when veiwing from the drive end.If they release too late, material can tend to bunch ,but usually this will result in material coming over top side of auger.

1997 or newer machines should have shock kits installed on front and rear feed drums. You need to get the kit and install on your machine. Set front drum blocks to grain front position and rear to grain rear position and then leave alone for all crops. let us know how your doing or if you have other questions.
