Combines 925 platform problems

I ran a 6620 with the 915 head this fall. It almost sounds like your terrain following feature is a bit heavy against the ground. We only ran 500 acres of combined winter wheat in July and soybeans this fall. I am guessing from the wear we will get one more season and have to replace them. Probably like the plastic forks. We are not getting much mileage out of them.

how low is your dial-a-matic setIJ what is the angle of your cutter barIJ what kind of dirt are you farmingIJ did the poly come from the factoryIJ a bunch of different factors. we just put a new set on a 216 header and ran 300 ac of beans, riding on the ground for most. the only thing that looks bad, is some of the rivets came out, probably installation issues there though. if they are JD polys, take them back and they will give you new, at least that is what they do at our local dealership. our 218 also has them, and they have run over 1000 ac of beans and 500 of wheat, still looking pretty good. i would only put JD on, forget the aftermarket. hope this helps.

We noticed the same thing when we went from a 218 to a new 920 head for our 7720. Are you running the head on a titan or titan 2 combineIJ We put bigger tires on the back to lift the rear of the combine up. This got the knife to run closer to the ground and the skid plates run more parallel to the ground so the auto header height worked better as well. Our dealer told us that on some of the titan combines there was an adjustment for rear axle height. If your combine is an '89 9000 series check if you have the original feederhouse or the updated version. The top length of the feeder house is longer on the update. JD sells a header tipping kit so you don"t have to replace the whole feederhouse. Our first 9500 had this problem.

got a 95 model 9600 with a 925 flex. ran on the ground in gumbo to sand and looks nearly new, minus a few scrapes.

the dial-a-matic is usually set in the middle position and we are located in central Ia with no sandy soil. I'm not positive the poly came from the factory because I bought used (1 season)but looks like the poly used on all new heads. checking with the dealer to see what he says about that. I did that to a brand new 930 in one day! The thing was shaking so bad

That was about the only position I could use to get a good cut. Was either pushing dirt or cutting to high
