We have decided to use one of our newly acquired fields as a communal garden. We want to invite some city folk in to help and take group ownership with us.
How would you go about this? I think they should help right from the beginning.

I'd ask your cooperative extension agent. They probably know how to do that.

I would probably check with a lawyer. I'd fret about someone getting hurt and trying to sue me over it. It sounds like you're trying to do a nice thing for your community and I'm sure it can be done successfully.

Checking with your lawyer is a good point. I'd check with your insurance agent, as well.

We did check with our lawyer. We still are doing this, it's going great so far. We do have insurance in case someone gets hurt. We did have our lawyer draft up a paper for everyone to sign prior to helping or planting.

Oh that is smart, having them sign a waiver of sorts. So if they get hurt, they can't sue you.
How many people have come to plant there?
