Which farm raised animal is the easiest when it comes to waste management? It's got to be rabbits, right? That was my answer when asked. They're doing career day via webcam here. I was expecting to talk about plants, but the kids wanted to talk about animals and their manure. Go figure.

I probably would've said goats, but that's only because I wouldn't have thought of rabbits. I raised meat rabbits years ago, but it still wouldn't have crossed my mind. I'm getting up there in years I suppose.

Since rabbits are small and are in cages, I would agree that rabbits are easier. When I had my dairy goat farm, I had a couple of employees who mucked out the barn. That was a huge expense.

How about if we say that the animals that require little space offer the best waste management options? I'd say chicken because they provide great compost for the garden. Can rabbit waste be used as compost?
