Getting Cat to Eating Fewer Carbs?

I've been doing some research and found out that a lower-carb diet is best for diabetic kitties. I also learned that pate canned cat food has fewer carbs than the ones with gravy. But my old guy doesn't really like pate. He loves gravy. And he loves kibble, which is full of carbs! Any ideas for getting him to eat pate food? Is there any way to reduce the amount of carbs he gets from kibble?

They do make low-carb kibble. There are prescription and non-prescription low-carb formulas on the market. Maybe you can ask your vet which one he would recommend? I hope you can get your guy to eat a lower carb diet and that he does well on it.

The cat will eat what you feed him when he gets hungry. Like dogs, cats are meat eaters, not vegetarians, not grain eaters. Feed the animal meat and it will live a long time. IMO if you can't properly go to the time and expense to feed any animal it's natural and proper diet, you should get a stuffed animal.
