leave the door off that covers the front of the machine, not the half moon door on rotor cage of course but the rectangle door. Also, if you take the two doors off on back above the spreaders it will help with trash below fuel tank.
I had to put in new knives every wheat harvest, and set the hold downs at .015". It would never cut wheat with used knives. The knives would then last through soybean harvest and then start over again. Also check the guards for rounded cutting edges. Case updated the guards about 5 years ago, too. I traded header last year for the 3" knives, they are much better for wheat! Good luck.
Thanks rob, but i already use the machine with these covers off and it makes little difference as most of the accumulation is over the middle of the rotor. Thanks anyway
If your talking dust accumulating inside the seperating area the only thing you can do is get and air nozzle and extend it with copper tubing, so you can bend it, and blow it off when your done. Around my farmsted I have had problems with rodents, so I must have a clean machine when it is stored.
Hi FarmerJim...this is simplistic solution but I carry a gasoline powered leaf blower in one of the trucks to make short work of removing dust from rotor and engine compartments...works well but you soon learn to work in conjunction with any wind....in this climate once a day is usually enough to be safe but have done very dry barley where we dusted every couple of dumps....wondered if a fellow could adapt a blower from a cyclo planter so you could place tubes from the blower to stategic locations then just periodically hit the hydrolics and clean on the go...just a thought
