Combines marshall how did the mods turn out

I am satisfied to this point. I have been harvesting wheat. We should have be done harvesting wheat 2 weeks ago but wet weather kept me out of the field until Wednesday. The conditions are terrible. Wheat is down and weedy. Ground is wet. But the machine has performed great...I guess. I am getting very little FM in the sample. I had no problem setting the machine. I ran the air up until it started blowing seed out and then backed off until it stopped. Very easy to operate. Several people told me the N would work well in clean grain but not so good in trashy conditions. I am running 5.5 mph with 27' header. Even though the yield is only 35 to 40 bu (hail knock a lot of seed out)it is 60 to 70 bu conditions. I will be moving into clean standing wheat by Thursday. I will let you know how it does. I am also running a l3 in the same conditions. The l3 is cutting about 7 ac_hr and the N7 is averaging 13 ac_hr. The only thing bugging me is the header seems to delay before it lifts and lowers. In other words it will delay a second before it starts and will keep moving after you let off the button. Whats up with thatIJ

Your hydraulic accumulator can cause the delays you describe.

Tom's suggestion sounds likely. Turn the quarter turn valve on the accumulator to "off" for instant response. A negative side effect of "off" is a much more obvious jerk when activating_deactivating the header hydraulics. Have a safe harvest Gamaman

Don't turn the accumulator valve completely off. It cushions hyd while crossing uneven ground and when raising and lowering the header. If it is run closed one will eventually crack or blow the header valve section in the valve bank. The accumulator is there for a reason. let it do it's job

I turned it half way and it seems to be close enough in wheat. But I will get the pressure checked in the cylinder. You could never cut soybeans with that much delay in the header.
