Had a look at them at Agshow this year. Very nice peice of equipment and they seem very keen to continue to develop them even more (which is a good sign). The aim being to ensure that they are "bullet proof" in all Australian conditions, which vary a heck of a lot from Central QlD to the beaches of the Mallee, SA and WA :) The look very strong and very well built, but not the weight problems that the honey bee's have. I guess the only real critisism would be price to a point (mid $50k from memory for 36ft with bat reel, but you really do get what you pay for) and availability. The guy was talking delivery in Feb if you ordered in the first week of September. Hope this helps.

Midwest are made in my home town and they seem to be selling very well. One of their better points is that where Mac Don and HoneyBee have to "sit" out further for their cutterbar and belt suspension Midwest sit back a lot better with their idea and so the drapper isn't as much a lever as other drappers on the combine. Also the roller bearings are self alinging so they run truer than others. The drapper belts also have a track and a grove on the belt rollers so that the belt tracks well, it can be a pain sometimes to get that belt to run true.

They have changed a bit too since the pictures on the website. They now have coil spring suspension rather than the torsion bar pictured. We have just ordered a 40' centre mount for a Case, to fit in with controlled traffic and there's another 43 or 45' goin' on a 480R nearby. You can get them in any size from 20' to 46' in three foot increments. Haven't had it in the paddock yet but wouldn't touch the others after seeing these. The others are just swathers made to fit on the front of a header_combine. They are made by harvest contractors so they know what they are talkin' about.
