My experience is that there is no comparison between the Turbo and the aspirated. The aspirated is far and away the best.

Was interested in your comment about pre-cleaners and I assume it was concerning the air cleaning capability of the 80_88 series combines. We installed a parallel cleaner on our 2188 this past year, actually a canister and precleaner off a TR96 and noticed a remarkable difference in the frequency of having to clean the filters, going from daily to a weekly cleaning. The other benefit is now the suction indicator remains a close to 0 inches vacuum instead of running at 15 inches plus, and the engine responds quicker to heavy load demands. Another benefit is that when you do clean the filters, the dirt is nearly as embedded into the filter making it much easier to clean, with often just tapping it on the tire sufficient enough to free the dirt.
