We always separate out about 200 bu of oats from a clean, weed free field into a bin that we sell the following spring as seed oats. Since we started running rotary Gleaners, there is no need to run the oats through a fanning mill to clean them further. We would often get short pieces of straw in our oats when we had conventionals that would require further cleaning so they wouldn't plug the grain drills. We no longer have that problem and the oats are far less dusty. I might add that we run one of those airfoil chaffers along with the standard Gleaner seive. These rotaries cannot be beat for a clean sample of grain in my opinion.
