Case-IH stripper plates

Bought a head in similar condition. Every adjustment was made with the nut red hot. I only adjusted one side of each row for now. I intend to free up the rest later.

We had the same problem a few years ago and used about a gallon of wd40. Also, rock the bolts back and forth a little at a time to keep from twisting them off.

I believe the OM recomends 1 1_8" at the bottom and 1 1_4" at the top. We usually set ours a little closer than that. They need to be set according to the diameter of your stalks. Too wide and they will let the stalk go too far up the stalk roll and cause ear shellage. Too close and the head will push the stalk down resulting in loss of ears.
