WASHINGTON, April 9, 2021 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that young adults under the age of 25 experiencing homelessness will now be able to receive meals at emergency shelters participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

I'm glad to hear that there will be fewer hungry people out there. The target age range is disturbing though. That's the age when adults should be starting their careers. It's troubling that so many need help with the basics. That can't speak well of our economy.

How hard is it for emergency shelters to participate in CACFP? This is good news, but it's only as good as the number of shelters it can serve.
