    Compulsive spending

Do farmers also fall into the trap of not spending their money wisely? I remember looking back and noticing a few financial blunders that I had committed. There is always a chance to learn and correcting past mistakes. Is drawing up a budget sufficient at times?

What are you hoping to achieve in the coming year?

We all venture into farming with the hope of getting a profit, but at times this does not happen immediately. In the coming year, I want to attend as many trade fairs as possible and do more research. It is dangerous to try out new things without having realistic expectations.

    Growing Everything You Eat

Not only is growing everything you eat a great accomplishment, but it is also one of those things you desire to do someday, however long it takes. It would be great to read about that farmer and the pitfalls he underwent because this is no mean feat.

    Getting Started?

I think you have it figured out already, but for that acreage, I would also consider livestock like cattle and sheep that are suitable for a ranch. You could also raise ostriches, bison and emus. I wish you the best as you plan all this out.

    Five Year Financial Plan

I wouldn't specify the period, but yes, a financial plan can be the difference between success and failure. There are many things I would want to achieve in 5 years, including increased productivity and manageable debt. How about you?

    Getting Started?

Like you say, making a profit in the first few years may not work, but I think purchasing anything more than 40 acres is ambitious of you. You can lease part of it as you gain more experience. You are definitely in the right place.

    Tractors Driver-less Tractors

When a friend mentioned this a few months ago, I brushed it off as a rumour. Technology evolves quickly, but I don't think driverless-tractors could soon become a reality. Perhaps with time, driverless-tractors will be more advanced.
